Today is the first day of the...blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, I know I've been slack about posting this last month...so much has happened, most of it good but just enough bad to put me in a temporary slump.
So the last month or so I've been dumped, got into a huge public scene with the ex, went to a great neighborhood party, reconnected with an old flame, got a new boyfriend, learned of the passing of a friends dog, qualified for the Peachtree (time group 1B), got a new job, have met a ton of new people and started the EAV Running Group.
Do you see why I haven't had time to blog?
Let's get the badness out of the way first. CRHB (aka Scott) and I broke up, things seemed okay, not wonderful but fun. He just started flaking on me, not making plans, etc...I just came out and asked him 'Do you want to date or not'... he's confused, not sure, to me any answer not a yes is a no. There are no hard feelings, he is a nice, fun person but I think I just liked the idea of liking him. I don't really think it would have worked with us, while we had many things in common and I enjoyed his company...the differences in our personalities would have doomed the relationship sooner than later.
Of course the loss of another relationship didn't put me in the best of moods. So at a friends Super Bowl Party it didn't take much for D to push the right buttons and send me into a rage. It wasn't pretty and I'm not proud of myself. I was in a funk for several days wondering what I needed to do to stop this insanity and being angry with myself for letting this man still get to me.
My good friend Kay (aka Tasty Pie) lost her beloved dog Genghis. Genghis was a wild child, making a break for it whenever he found the opportunity. Sadly he slipped out of his collar one Sunday afternoon and was hit by a car. I can't begin to do the story justice, I found out by reading Kay's Blog I spent the rest of the afternoon in tears. Kay I still can't tell you how sorry I am.
Now for the good news:
I had vowed to myself late last year I was going to get out more, spend a little more time away from the hash and meeting new people. The plus side of being with Scott was, I got more involved with folks in the neighborhood, or as they are also known the buzzers.
Days after the break up with Scott, my good friend Paulie and I attended a local pizza party on Glennwood Ave. While there I bumped in to a fellow buzzer and one time date, Brad.
I've spoke with Brad several times (mostly about biking) over the past few years, said hi to him while out in the local bars, dog park, etc and didn't think much of it as I was usually in a 'relationship'. Long story short when I got home there was a wonderful email from him asking if I would consider revisiting us dating again. It has been a great 3 weeks and still going strong. We are even planing a few trips for spring/summer...that's pretty amazing in my book. ;-)
I also got a new job, I started yesterday. I have accepted a position in Maternal and Infant Health, Applied Sciences Branch. I will be doing more data analysis and collaborating than in my last job, I think I'm going to be happy here. Plus, it is considered an promotion and I did get a little bump in pay.
My running is paying off. On a whim I decided to do the Charles Harris 10K last Saturday morning. I finished in 53:11 which was good enough to qualify for the Peachtree 10K in July. This was also 9 minutes faster than my last 10K not quite a year ago. Next up the Atlanta Women's 5K and ING Half Marathon.
To stay on the running topic just a bit longer. I've been trying to make it to George's once and a while to run with other folks, one night I showed up, cocky from the previous week's run with the big boys. Apparently, my head was too heavy for the rest of my body and not 3 block into the run I fell...okay fell is an understate men, I caught air, smashed into the ground and didn't stop until my hard, inflated head hit a metal post. Okay this sounds bad right? Well I kept running, just slower than I had planned. While running I was stated talking to this woman, Sharon. Well Sharon lives in my 'hood, she is an afore mentioned buzzer. WE talked about having someone in local to run with, well we made the decision right there to start an EAV version of the George's run, so now we (and anyone that wants to join us) meet in front of Gravity on Monday nights and take a run through EAV/Oremwood Park. Last night we had 10 people show up.
Sharon has also been joining me for some local get togethers and mt. biking. Her, along with Brad are currently convincing me I need a road bike. Stay tuned for a new member of the family in the next couple of weeks.
Okay so there is my update, I'll try to be more current in the future.
Stay tuned I'm sure I will have lots to talk about in the coming weeks...Brad, the new job, running/biking success stories.

Friday Weigh-in
Sorry there has been no post in awhile. I have several drafts started, I just can't seem to finish anything right now.
Scale: 133.5 lbs
I have busted my ass this past week:
Since last Saturday I've ran 26 miles and rode the bike three times, once on the Black trails at Big Creek and twice in the neighborhood.
I'm planning on another short ride through the 'hood tonight, weather permitting, to try out the new pedals, wish me luck.
As far as my new year's goals, I've had one set back this week and seeing great progress on another. More news to follow on both.
Month End Summary:
Running 58 Miles
Biking 68 Miles
Scale: 133.5 lbs
