A Weekend with the B$@ch

Another weekend, another night passed out on the couch.

I was a good girl on Friday. I was not in the mood for happy hour, schlepping all my stuff to Piedmont Park, not knowing who would be there, had all the makings for a grumpy Martha. Instead, I got a hair cut and color so I would be ready for the wedding next Sunday. Good thing I gave it a week to grow out, she cut my bangs a little short but I should be fine by Sunday. I did a little yard work before darkness fell and got ready for the weekend.

Saturday morning I got up early and headed out to Yellow River (yes, Yellow River) to meet Barb for an early morning ride. The weather was beautiful and we explored trails I hadn't rode before. We bumped into several riders on horseback but they didn't seem to mind us on there trail. After an hour plus on trail and we headed back to the cars, I needed to check if BWANA wanted me to pick him up or if I was going to get to go to lunch with Nancy and Barb.

Yeah, lunch with Nancy and Barb it was. We headed to Jason's Deli in Tucker, which worked out great, I had a yummy spinach wrap and I had the chance to head to the craft store to pick up some notions for the final touches on my Halloween costume.

A quick drive across town, landed me in the lovey area of MLK and I285. After being warned by a security guard that is wasn't a safe area and a mad dash for flashlights we were off! Trail was well laid and interesting...I don't usually say this but it seemed a little short. BWANA had somewhere to be and needed time to make himself pretty so we wrapped up circle and headed back to EAV for dinner at la castia, a pitcher of margaritas later I was on my way home. I arrived home to find one section of my fence gone (the neighbor is putting up a new fence) and the a fore mentioned neighbor and a friend hanging out in the back yard. I pulled up a chair and had a couple (4) more beers with them before falling a sleep on the couch.

Day 2 of Bwanafest

Sunday morning was unremarkable, a trip to the store and a much need cleaning of the kitchen took up most of the morning. I communicated with my Black Sheep carpool buddies and arranged to meet at my place at 12:45 for the long trek to Alpharetta. At exactly 12:45 Paul showed up about 30 minutes later, a very emotional Betsy arrived. I loaned her an extra CamelBack, we loaded up the car and took off north to the land of the Soccer Mom's and Big SUVs.

It was a large turn out for the 450th running of the Black Sheep Hash. We all wandered around saying hello and giving hugs to those we haven't seen in awhile and those we saw just yesterday. The hounds took off (TLS, BWANA & 2 Crabs) and the pack followed 5 minutes later. I'm not one for remembering much of trail but there was a swamp, some creeks, one 'river' crossing...I was up to my neck in ice cold water, I look to my right and I see Pussy Pilot only wading waist deep!! Oh well, I'll get him back in the next time we enter a tunnel.

From Davey's hash trash...I never thought those 4 names would ever be seen in the same sentence: with Martha and Bone Hole and Blue Ball Special following P*ssy Pilot
I'm running with the big kids now!

Actually, there was a first time Black Sheep Hasher, just Bobby, also with us then. He is a cutie and did flirt a bit with me (Davey was going to flip me for him)...I needed that after the events of last week.

We packed out bags, checked our passports and headed back ITP. As shocking as it may seem the evening ended with pizza and more beer at Bwana's house and then me asleep on the couch.

I'm a bad mom

As I said earlier, one section of my fence is missing. If part of your fence is missing you might as well not have a fence.

Well, I'm use to having the back door open and the boy know how to get in and out by themselves. I had a little mental hiccup on Sunday and left the back door open. When I woke up an hour or so later, I found I was short one DOG!!! Crap. At least it was Toby, I knew he couldn't have gotten too far. I found him after a couple of frantic minutes in my neighbour's yard.

Busy Week Ahead

I need to enjoy the down time tonight, I have a busy weekend planned. Tomorrow night Donkey Punch will return to Charlie G's to defend our unbeaten record. Wednesday night...I can't say, it is a surprise. Thursday I'll be heading back to Gorin's and the Thrashers Game. Saturday, my first 15K and then the hash and winding up the week with a Sunday Run and the wedding of two good friends.

The Pricess and the Pea

Now on more than one occasion I've been called a Queen, Drama Queen that is and Harold has taken to calling me the Cazrina but I've never considered myself much of a princess, despite my desire to wear tiars.
That was until yesterday.

I'm sure you all remember the tale of The Princess and the Pea, to prove her Princess-ness a young girl at to sleep a top 40 mattress with a pea placed underneath. When questioned the next morning on her nights sleep she stated she slept poorly and was black and blue all over from somethine hard under the bed. This proved she was a princess, nobody but a princess could be so delicate. They lived happily ever after.

Now for my tomboy version for the 21st century.

Last night while finishing up mile 3 of a 9+ mile run, it started to feel like my entire sock had slouched down into my shoe, it was very uncomfortable to say the least. I finally had to stop running to readjust. I took off my shoe and found everything right were it was suppose to be?? Upon closer inspection I noticed a little bit of embrodery on the bottom of the sock (FYI these where new socks) used as the logo. That seriously couldn't be what was causing all that pain? I guess I need MORE new socks.

On a positive note, I ran 9.3 miles (15K) in 1 hour 28 minutes. My last 10K I ran in 1 hour 3 minutes, I feel ready for next Saturday at Peachtree City.

I Will Survive

but not because I have half a brain in my little red head.

As you may know I've been really working on my running. I've signed up for a 15K in just two weeks and I figured it might be a good idea to actually run that distance before race day.

I was a little concerned the weather would foil my plans, a quick look at the radar show a gap in the rain that was big enough for me to finish a 9 mile run without getting caught. I pack up up stuff and left the office without a word to anyone.

The run was okay, I was keeping a pace of 10 mph. Good time for me. I ran around Grant Park, east on Glennwood through the village, back tracked on Braeburn about mile 7 I hit a wall. I hadn't anything to eat since lunch and only brought water with me on the run...I guess it is time to buy some Gu. I still finish strong, 1 hour 34 min, not too shaby.

And now for the stupid part

The monthly running of SLUT (Slow Lazy Urban Thursday) was starting at 7:30. I had almost an hour to take a shower and drive a few miles up Moreland. I was not going to run. I took to heart the Slow Lazy part of this hash. I even figured I could just do a walker-short cut trail to the end. I also figured I would have a little company. Not so!

Everyone was giving me a hard time about not running and, being no smarter than Lic, I took of, full speed after the pack. I ran at the front of that damn pack for most of the trail. Not only was it a little long but full of shiggy. I had PT in the morning and I was trying to figure out a lie to tell my therapist when I limped in with my knee busted up again.

I got to the beer stop, cursed the hares, tried to smile at the boy I like and just took off again. When I finally saw the BN I was ecstatic...and half a mile later I actually saw beer!

Oh well, honestly a couple of beers and lots of laughs later I forgotten about trail and was having a great evening with good friends. That is what it is all about.

The drive back to the cars was the best part. Wil U Suck's tastes in music doesn't, we got to hear some of the finest songs of the 70s and I was the middle of a Martha sandwich with HoPo and the Bore, my bacon eating buddies.

The evening ended with a dirty, smelly, drunk group of hasher singing 'I Will Survive' and dancing in the middle of a church parking lot in the rain. I believed every word of it!

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're backfrom outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one secondyou'd be back to bother me
Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumbleyou think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving for someone who's loving me

A Trip Back in Time - Part 2

I got a text message from an old flame last night...interesting timing.

More to come on this recent event.

Bike Maintenance Night

Since I've started actually riding my bike I figured it was time for a little tune up. I had been having some problems with changing gears. As luck would have it last night was bike maintenance night at Kat and Mango's house. It was just a casual get together with lots of bikes, burgers and beers.

While some people there are hasher, others were Wheelhopper (close cousins) and others just like to ride bike. Come to find out one of the guys there is the husband of my co-worker. Small world.

Nothing exciting happened, I had a few beers and got my bike fixed. YEAH!!

I don't know if I'll get a chance to ride this weekend. I want to do a long run (9ish miles) this week. If it rains tonight I will have to do it on Saturday before the hash. I also have another tasks to accomplish on Saturday morning. More to come on that if I actually go through with it and I am able to work out some logistical issues.

I see big changes for 2008!

A Trip Back in Time

Even with the bum knee my running is really coming along. I ran 8 miles last Thursday, slow but I finished. Last night I ran just over 5 in near record time (for me). I have a 15K planned in two weeks, I'm sure I will be ready for it. This week I am going to try to run that distance and see how long it takes. I need a running partner.

The weekend was pretty much the same but somehow just a little better. A friend came over on Friday, we had planned on heading to Happy Hour together but in the end just hung out in the back yard and talked. It was really nice.

Saturday I finally did some yard work. I was a little embarrassed on Friday night when I realized what a mess the back yard had become. I've been so busy, being busy that I've been neglecting the house/yard. That needs to change just a little.

Saturday afternoon I headed to the hash, it was a pretty poor trail but beautiful weather, great company and a few cold beers made everyone forget about trail in no time. I went to the on after and had some really bad Mexican food and then spent the rest of the evening with a friend.

Sunday I headed off to Big Creek alone for some trail riding. I promised my physical therapist that I would stick to easy trails and not jump over anything. I made 3 or 4 loops and headed back to town. I'm glad I've started biking, it is a nice change of pace from running and a totally different group of people.

Now for the big decision of the weekend...to hash Black Sheep or not to hash Black Sheep. I had told myself that I was going to avoid it for awhile. Being around someone that calls me a whore is not the way I want to spend my Sunday afternoon. With encouragement from others, promised 'protection' if I was bothered, the fact that Robin, who I haven't seen in ages, was the hare and the start was only 15 minutes from my house I headed out.

It was a great day and a great trail...I spent most of my time on trail with Col. Cl!t, Big Bore, Just Marlin and Swamp Guinea. There was just enough 'swamp' to get really muddy and the trail was just long enough to make me feel like I earned my beer(s). We all hung out until the beer truck drove off and we headed to the on-after at the unforgettable Southern Comfort. I can't tell this story again but you can read all about it here...
I can say with almost complete certainty that we will not be back (other than to snap a photo for the blog).

Well that was my weekend. Having fun, drunk and tired is how I spent my time...and you?
